FINALLY. After four long, Beyonce-and-booze-filled holiday weeks, the Coven has finally returned, and they’re rocking some sweet-ass Stevie shawls. This episode was mostly set-up, but fear not. Shit still went down.
BEN: Well folks, the 71st Golden Globe Awards are this Sunday, and it’s time again to see what our good, dumb friends at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will pick as the “best” films of 2013. Seen as something of a precursor to the Oscars, if nothing else, the evening will provide us with some fun speeches, and hilarious moments from our hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. But we’re here to talk about the awards! Who will win? Who should win? These are the all-too important questions that we as pop-culture guardians must discuss! How should we begin, Nina?
NINA: With the categories for Best Film, I guess? Both categories, because whatever.
After much discussion and controversy over the lack of diversity on Saturday Night Live (especially after adding four white male cast members at the beginning of the season), the show has announced that they will be adding a black female comedian to the roster of performers on the show. Starting with the January 18th episode hosted by Drake, Sasheer Zamata will be joining the cast, becoming the first black-female comedian to be part of the show since Maya Rudolph. It will definitely be exciting to add some new creative energy to the cast, and we can’t wait to see how Sasheer does on her first show!
